The Power of LOVE

Four Saturdays ago. May 19, 2018. The entire world witnessed the power of LOVE.

Let's rewind...it was the Monday after Thanksgiving...I was figuring out Christmas magic after decorating the house and then my phone went a bit crazy with news alerts. I silently groaned thinking there may have been drama in the social media world meaning I needed to down my coffee and get to work, but lo and behold...

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle had officially announced their engagement.

Everything stopped. Christmas. Work. Thoughts. Because I had to jabber Rae and tell her I didn't care what day they decided to wed, we were taking off of work and watching. We didn't confirm who would host, we just knew there would be an EARLY morning (possibly an all nighter), pajamas, food, and drinks. We had a plan and committed, so I could now get lost in my work.

The day finally arrived and when my alarm went off at 4:30am, I was shocked to see my mom was already up AND dressed. Not sure who was more excited. Me or her.

Here's a little secret: ever since video leaked of him dancing in 2012, I have had a bit of a celebrity crush on him. Who knew Harry had moves?! And then there's that ACCENT. Oh and now this beard...ok, I digress. After all, he's a married man.

In any event, we went downstairs to prep before Rae got here. We had coffee, mimosas, mini key lime & lemon tarts, mini danishes & muffins, sticky buns, and grapes. And for the savory - Rae made these delicious monkey bread bacon biscuits. And of course water was optional.
We were all set for the wedding and could not wait for our first peek of the fashion, hair, decor, Megs, Harry, Charlotte, and the guests. My phone was buzzing. Drea, Shana, and Andriece were also manning their social media and tv screens for arrivals, updates, and details.

My first moment was the image of her girlfriends (Priyanka and company) strutting to watch their girl get married.

Speaking of walks, did yall notice Harry's as he walked into Windsor Castle with his brother...outfitted in his military uniform?!

Meghan sneakily got in the car with her mother, Doria, and prolonged our first look until she arrived. The image on the steps as the pastor greeted her was BREATHTAKING and well worth the wait. The length and details of the veil accompanied with the dress provided stunning photos.
And THEN...Harry saw his bride. Uhhh...tissues. WHY did I NOT have tissues next to me?! The way he looks at her...and BITES HIS LIP...you can tell he adores her.
SWOONS
That's right Harry - present your woman to the world!
I was not a fan of this neckline until THIS picture. SOLD!
We all know the kids were one of my favorite parts of this wedding party. Especially Charlotte. And Brian Mulroney's excited expression as they walked into the ceremony.
So let's see. Why am I still obsessed with this wedding and the couple as a whole?! I love that regardless of protocol, they are steadfast in doing things their way.

Meghan made an entrance on her own. Walking towards her future. Whole. An independent woman. Giving herself to her man. That pause at the floral entrance with the pastor...HERE I AM.

Did you ever think you would hear Stand By Me or This Little Light of Mine at a Royal Wedding?!

OR how about the 15 minute sermon on the power of love?! Reverend Curry admitted he doubled the time he planned on speaking.

And then we witnessed Doria beaming with pride as her daughter wed her man. A prince.

Do we need to even touch on race? It goes without saying, right?! Love sees no color and transcends any barriers if you are willing to put in the work. Yet so many people are still prejudice. And this time we are living in is downright ugly AND scary. Meghan and Harry are committed to changing the injustices of the world. Their union presented hope for adaptions in society as a whole.

I can honestly look at these pics all day as my wedding checklist lengthens. Now added: police escort, kiddie bridal party, and a LONG veil. I was always team NO veil, so I guess my mom will now get her wish. One day.

What was your favorite part of the Royal Wedding? Or are you OVER IT?
